Judith Auerbach
founded Auerbach Associates in 1986, after two decades in
academic publishing and in law.
For the past twenty years she has provided search and consulting
services to universities, medical centers and other health care
organizations, scholarly institutions, and not-for-profit
organizations generally.
At Harvard University Press she was an editor for history and
the social sciences and she also served as publications
consultant to the Harvard Business School, MIT Press, and the
Criminal Justice Center at Harvard Law School.
From 1980 to 1985 she practiced law in Boston, specializing
in health care and government regulation.
A graduate of Barnard College, she holds degrees in history
and in law from Columbia University and Boston College Law
School.

Julie
DeSorgher leads Auerbach searches in all areas of academic
administration and finance, for professional school and for
healthcare and other non-profit organizations. Her clients have
included major research universitites, both public and private,
as well as smaller colleges. She joined Auerbach Associates
following a twenty-year career in healthcare administration and
finance. Julie began her career in nursing and nursing
administration and then moved to healthcare consulting working
for Arthur Andersen & Co. She has held senior finance and
management positions at Beth Israel Hospital (Boston), Harvard
Pilgrim Health Care, and Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates.
Julie holds a B.S. from Winona State University in Minnesota and
a Master's of Public Administration from the Kennedy School of
Government at Harvard University.
Kit Nichols joined the firm
after several years in the arenas of research and management
consulting. She was the senior Policy Manager for the Pioneer
Institute for Public Policy Research, Inc., responsible for all
research and program activities for education reform
initiatives. Prior to that she held the position of
Project Consultant for the Center for Applied Research, a
consulting company founded as part of the Wharton Business
School. A graduate of Middlebury College, she is fluent in
Italian, proficient in Swedish, and also holds an M.A. in
international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and
Diplomacy at Tufts University.
Ellen Offner plays a leadership role in
academic administration, health care, and other not-for-profit
sector searches. Her search clients have included Case Western Reserve Medical School,
the University of Colorado, Rutgers University, and Williams
College. She was previously a Vice
President at Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, a large health plan in
Boston, and served as a senior manager in the MIT Medical
Department. Ellen also works as an independent consultant
specializing in strategic planning and program development for
academic medical centers, foundations, health
care organizations and universities. In that capacity, she
has worked with the Dana-Farber Cancer institute, Tufts Health
Care Institute, and the University of Michigan. A graduate of Barnard College, Ellen also holds an
M.B.A. from Boston University in public and nonprofit
management.
Marjorie Stockford supports search for academic
administration and professional schools. She has had a
twenty-five year management career in corporations and
nonprofits, and specializes in research and writing. Marjorie
holds an undergraduate engineering degree from the University of
Massachusetts, Amherst, an MBA from NYU, and an MPA from the
Kennedy School of Government at Harvard.
Julie Wang, Research and Project Consultant, joined the firm in
2006. Prior to joining Auerbach Associates, she spent several
years with The Asia Foundation, managing international programs
designed to strengthen private philanthropy, corporate
responsibility, and the non-profit sector in Asia. She holds a
Master's degree in international affairs from The Johns Hopkins
University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) and a
Bachelor's degree in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
Sara Fjeseth manages the firm's administrative
functions, serves as the human resources and information technology
coordinator, provides project management support on many of the
searches the firm conducts, and acts as special assistant to the
President. Before joining Auerbach Associates she held several
senior positions in the financial services industry, including
marketing and administrative management, investment product
generation, back-office operations and systems management.
Graduating with top honors, she holds a B.B.A. in management from
Pace University.
Caitlin Hu, Project
Coordinator, holds a B.A. in International Relations and Middle
Eastern Studies from Wellesley College. Prior to joining Auerbach
Associates, Caitlin worked for the San Francisco Bay Guardian,
conducted training workshops in ecology in Condega, Nicaragua, and
facilitated placements for foreign scholars in Rabat, Morocco. In
addition to her native English, she speaks French and Arabic.
